Investing.com - Top U.S. cryptocurrency exchange Gemini Trust has hired the New York Stock Exchange's chief information officer.
Gemini, founded by the Winklevoss bothers, says Robert Cornish has joined the company as its first chief technology officer, and will start work later this month.
Cornish was in charge of technology at the NYSE. He held a similar post at the International Securities Exchange, an electronics options exchange based in New York.
Gemini says Cornish will lead the exchange's technology team and strategy, working to expand its product offering.
Cornish is the latest executive to leave an established Wall Street firm to join the cryptocurrency world.
Gemini and other exchanges, such as Coinbase, are trying to attract institutional investors to broaden their businesses.
Gemini was founded in 2014 by the Winklevoss brothers, who were early investors in bitcoin. The exchange provides trading in bitcoin, bitcoin cash, ether and Zcash.
