The Lisk Foundation has helped many new JavaScript developers to realize their potential and build applications that are changing technology forever. The Lisk Grant Program was set up to empower programmers to build blockchain applications on the Lisk protocol using the Lisk Software Development Kit (SDK). This has already proven to be a great success with more new projects joining the program with every new wave.

The Lisk Grant Program allocates a prize pool total of $1.3 million to any projects with big ideas and a solid plan. The requirements are simple, while the benefits of participating in this initiative are broad. Aside from the financial aid, developers also have access to a bustling community and years of experience from the Lisk technical team to guide project managers in their endeavors.

How to Participate in the Lisk Grant Program To start with, it is a prerequisite that the team is led by two core members, one of which must be a JavaScript developer. If you don’t have a partner to work with, you can search the Lisk community to find one. As the head of the project, you will be in charge of overseeing the development process and communicating with the Lisk team.

Here are the milestones that projects must go through:

  • Project setup: Signing on with Lisk, verifying your team’s identities, and website/ socials setup.
  • Minimum viable project: Development of your MVP, and a business review by the Lisk team.
  • Development: Pass a high-level review, launch of a testnet, and keep the testnet live for a month.
  • Launch: Launch the mainnet, register your app as a sidechain to the Lisk mainchain, maintain the sidechain for a minimum of one month.

With each milestone, teams will also be required to publish a blog post relating to progress made.

Successful Lisk Grant Program participants Lisk’s network is expanding rapidly now, thanks in large part to the Lisk Grant Program. Some projects on the Lisk network have come very far in their development and are starting to produce results. Here are some of the chains powered by Lisk that really stand out.

Kalipo One of the original members of the Lisk Grant Program, Kalipo is pushing the envelope in terms of DAOs and community decision-making. Created by Peter Nobels and Xinrong Ding,Kalipo aims to allow users greater access to community resources to build agreement around their priorities. These come in a variety of forms:

  • Legal entities
  • Project workgroups
  • Meetups and events
  • Clubs and associations
  • Online communities

Since first joining in September of 2021, the team has consistently reached milestones and continues to build on their success. Peter Nobels is also building a name for the project, being featured by Nasdaq earlier this year and often appearing in Lisk community calls.

Enevti Along with Kalipo, Enevti is another project from the first wave of the Lisk Grant Program. This project aims to combine NFT technology with social media. Enevti brings people closer to their favorite influencers and creates a more holistic experience in online communities. Influencers can gain traction and profits quicker while giving more to their fans online.

This year, CEO and co-founder Aldo Suhartono Putra, won the APAC insider’s award for Most Innovative Social Media CEO 2022.

Topas City Topas City is a metaverse and GameFi project that is exploring new frontiers of blockchain technology. It is one of the first VR/XR games to incorporate blockchain into it, with gamers venturing into the dynamic and sprawling world of Topas City. There they can interact with other players, attempting to gain in-game currency and reach greater limits within the game.

This ambitious project is a great example of metaverse technology which is another category that can be developed with the Lisk Grant Program.

Here are some more examples of successful candidates:

  • Neatbox: Neatbox is an on-chain storage solution. By mixing hardware and software with data hosting, users can both profit from providing data storage options, or maintain their data in a safe on-chain setting.

  • Colecti: A digital marketplace for NFTs on the Lisk network.

  • RGB: A collective NFT project that runs over two weeks with different community members contributing to a blank canvas.

If you want to grab more inspiration, you can check out other projects that are built using the Lisk SDK and funded by the Lisk Grant Program.

Apply for the Lisk Grant Program Great ideas for development are always welcomed with Lisk. The current wave of the Lisk Grant Program started on May 23 and will run until August 21. If you are a passionate JavaScript developer with an idea you want to share with the world, reach out and share your project with Lisk today.
