Benzinga - The legend of Yuga Labs continues to grow in the non-fungible token space. The game “Dookey Dash” was played more than 7.5 million times by people who owned Sewer Pass NFTs, all competing for the legendary Dookey Dash Key. Only one person won and they have now sold the winning prize.

What Happened: Esports player Kyle Jackson, known best as Mongraal, was the winner of Dookey Dash. The game was playable by anyone who had a Sewer Pass NFT from Yuga Labs, a Web3 company valued at $4 billion in 2022.

Mongraal won the competition with a final score of 928,522. During the competition, the Fortnite gamer also posted high scores of 695,549, 807,260 and 864,396.

According to Yuga Labs, 25,525 Sewer Pass holders competed in the game with 7.5 million total runs completed, an average of 27.7 hours played per person. Yuga Labs saw its ecosystem grow by 40% with the new players.

A score of 665,169 ranked people in the top 1% of the Dookey Dash competition, a score Mongraal hit several times. Scores stay with the Sewer Passes and will be part of future Yuga Labs plans.

Yuga Labs has hired new CEO Daniel Alegre, who previously served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Activision Blizzard (NASDAQ: ATVI). The company also announced that Spencer Tucker was hired as the Chief Gaming Officer.

Gaming will be a big part of Yuga Labs’ future with its plans for the Otherside metaverse and gaming world.

Yuga Labs co-founder Greg Solano shared at the Benzinga Future of Crypto event how important gaming was in the creation of the company.

“We grew obsessed with ‘World of Warcraft’ and if you’ve been chasing after a sword at the bottom of a dungeon, you know digital assets matter,” Solano said.

Key Sold: Mongraal sold the winning Dookey Dash key for 1,000 Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH), or $1.63 million at the time of the sale.

The key was sold to entrepreneur Adam Weitsman, who is the owner of several Yuga Labs related NFTs. The vault wallet of Weitsman, which holds the key, also has three Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs, one Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFT, three Bored Ape Kennel Club NFTs and a Meebit.

“Super nice guy and thrilled the sale went through with him,” Mongraal tweeted.

Weitsman is known for owning scrap metal businesses and previously started cryptocurrency mining company Viridium according to Decrypt.

Mongraal had previously listed the key for sale for 3,333 ETH, or around $5.4 million.

Prior to selling to Weitsman, the key had a bid of 999 ETH from @9gagceo, the CEO of 9GAG and Memeland. There is a high bid offer of 999 ETH, or $1.64 million from 9GAGCEO on the key again, now owned by Weitsman.

UPDAO, the United Planets DAO, also placed a bid of 690 ETH on the key, which prompted Mongraal to tell them to double the bid for him to accept.

Professional esports players and gamers drew mixed reactions from the NFT community. Some saw the practice of Sewer Pass holders paying professionals to get high scores as cheating, and others cheered on the welcoming of gamers into the Web3 ecosystem.

“Did we anticipate this being so successful that the top scores would essentially become a pro-gamer competition? Lol no,” Yuga Labs co-founder Wylie Aronow replied to a user on Twitter. “We’re learning a lot. Will fine tune a ton for future mini-games, and take the experiments to a new level.”

Mongraal said he would participate in future Yuga Labs games. The professional gamer did not respond to a request for comment by Benzinga.
