Benzinga - In a significant moment for the global Web3 community, BlockchainSpace introduced its Web3 community-collectible platform, YEY, during a campaign at the FIBA Basketball World Cup in the Philippines in August 2023.
Singapore-based BlockchainSpace partnered with Smart Communications, the Philippines' largest telecom provider, in May 2023 to extend Web3 benefits to Smart's subscriber base of nearly 60 million users and a broader Southeast Asian audience.
The collaboration materialized in August 2023 as YEY debuted at the most-attended FIBA Basketball World Cup in history. This high-profile event served as an ideal platform to introduce Web3 technology to a global audience during a major sporting event, aligning with their shared vision of #web3forall.
As part of the launch strategy, QR touchpoints were placed at tournament venues, providing Smart telecommunications network users exclusive Smart-FIBA Shinys as tokens.
These Smart-FIBA Shinys also acted as on-chain tickets for a promotional raffle in collaboration with the Philippines' Department of Trade and Industry. Raffle winners were selected based on wallet addresses, with the number of Shinys collected determining their chances. Prizes included FIBA Finals Phase Tickets (Quarter Finals, Semi Finals, and Finals), among other rewards.
The YEY app simplifies the crypto journey for users, catering to newcomers and Web3 enthusiasts alike. YEY offers a user-friendly onboarding process, allowing users to create wallets and receive NFTs within minutes.
YEY operates on Polygon PoS, an Ethereum-compatible blockchain protocol hosting popular Web3 applications. It streamlines user wallet provisioning and directly mints NFTs on the chain, ensuring a smooth user experience.
Urvit Goel, Head of Global Business Development at Polygon Labs, said, "BlockchainSpace is a leading project in the So-Fi realm, merging Web3 with the creator economy on Polygon. The YEY app caters to creators and end-users, offering a great onboarding experience for newcomers to Web3."
The app empowers creators, games, and brands to craft digital collectibles called "Shinys." These collectibles can be minted on the platform, shared with superfans, and displayed in custodial wallets.
Peter Ing, CEO and Founder of BlockchainSpace, said, "At BlockchainSpace, we've focused on Web3 community infrastructure since 2018. YEY represents over four years of community management expertise, simplified into a seamless user onboarding experience."
The deployment of YEY at FIBA underscores the platform's commitment to integrating real-life user experiences with blockchain technology, demonstrating its potential for practical applications. This partnership with Smart Communications marks a significant stride for YEY as it enters the mainstream market, emphasizing the seamless integration of blockchain technology with real-world applications.
