Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.02% or 1.780 points to trade at 60.640 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) added 1.78% or 0.193 points to end at 11.008 and Unilever NV (AS:UNc) was up 1.53% or 0.62 points to 41.22 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gemalto (AS:GTO), which lost 4.97% or 3.09 points to trade at 59.08 in late trade. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) declined 2.44% or 0.40 points to end at 16.00 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) shed 2.27% or 0.078 points to 3.362.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 110 to 58 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.17% to 17.97.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 3.53% or 1.62 to $44.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 3.46% or 1.66 to hit $46.27 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.05% or 14.10 to trade at $1330.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.1216, while EUR/GBP fell 0.65% to 0.8616.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 95.40.
