On the New York Mercantile Exchange, Crude oil futures for February delivery traded at USD54.72 a barrel at time of writing falling 0.66%.
Earlier, it traded at a session low USD54.66 a barrel. Crude oil was likely to find support at USD53.94 and resistance at USD59.27.
US Dollar Index, which tracks the performance of the greenback versus a basket of six other major currencies, rose 0.03% to trade at USD89.48.
Elsewhere on the ICE, Brent oil for February delivery fell 0.61% to trade at USD59.33 a barrel, with the spread between the Brent oil and Crude oil contracts stood at USD4.61 a barrel.
