Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 2.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Acerinox (MC:ACX), which rose 4.58% or 0.363 points to trade at 8.292 at the close. Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) added 2.86% or 0.093 points to end at 3.344 and Gamesa (MC:GAM) was up 2.47% or 0.410 points to 16.980 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sacyr (MC:SCYR), which lost 6.39% or 0.090 points to trade at 1.319 in late trade. Obrascon Huarte Lain (MC:OHL) declined 5.78% or 0.264 points to end at 4.307 and Gas Natural (MC:GAS) shed 5.51% or 0.980 points to 16.820.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 163 to 42 and 15 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 1.15% or 13.00 to $1140.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 5.09% or 1.52 to hit $31.40 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 4.71% or 1.54 to trade at $34.26 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.37% to 1.1067, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.7597.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.39% at 97.49.
