Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 2.96%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 11.08% or 0.42 points to trade at 4.17 at the close. Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL) added 8.09% or 0.41 points to end at 5.46 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was up 6.67% or 0.81 points to 12.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included TNT Express (AS:TNTE), which lost 0.08% or 0.006 points to trade at 7.799 in late trade. NN Group (AS:NN) added 0.66% or 0.21 points to end at 32.26 and Aalberts Industries (AS:AALB) gained 1.75% or 0.54 points to 31.12.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 154 to 26 and 3 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 9.36% to 20.58 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 4.01% or 1.45 to $37.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 2.95% or 1.06 to hit $37.17 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.49% or 5.30 to trade at $1068.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.77% to 1.0873, while EUR/GBP fell 1.01% to 0.7314.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.43% at 98.64.
