Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5), which rose 9.64% or 0.980 points to trade at 11.150 at the close. Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) added 1.67% or 0.094 points to end at 5.741 and Gamesa (MC:GAM) was up 1.46% or 0.205 points to 14.265 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 4.29% or 0.225 points to trade at 5.025 in late trade. Banco Santander (MC:SAN) declined 2.79% or 0.145 points to end at 5.059 and Abengoa B (MC:ABGek) shed 2.40% or 0.021 points to 0.853.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 128 to 88 and 6 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 2.50% or 29.40 to $1146.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $45.94 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.23% or 0.12 to trade at $48.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.28% to 1.0954, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.7160.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.17% at 97.52.
