Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Semiconductor and Iron & Steel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 3.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Wistron Corp (TW:3231), which rose 10.00% or 1.25 points to trade at 13.75 at the close. Airtac (TW:1590) added 10.00% or 13.50 points to end at 148.50 and Chang Type (TW:1541) was up 9.98% or 2.30 points to 25.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424), which lost 9.86% or 2.75 points to trade at 25.15 in late trade. Asmedia (TW:5269) declined 9.83% or 11.50 points to end at 105.50 and Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906) shed 9.83% or 2.25 points to 20.65.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 590 to 254 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.12% or 0.43 to $38.67 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.66% or 0.28 to hit $42.97 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.55% or 6.40 to trade at $1147.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.81% to 32.685, while TWD/CNY fell 0.36% to 0.1956.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.29% at 93.65.
