Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 0.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were J. Martins SGPS (LISBON:JMT), which rose 5.34% or 0.6625 points to trade at 13.0725 at the close. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LISBON:CTT) added 2.32% or 0.2140 points to end at 9.4260 and Banco BPI (LISBON:BBPI) was up 1.63% or 0.0165 points to 1.0265 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nos SGPS SA (LISBON:NOS), which lost 2.35% or 0.1860 points to trade at 7.7140 in late trade. Pharol SGPS SA (LISBON:PHRA) declined 2.15% or 0.0075 points to end at 0.3415 and Teixeira Duarte (LISBON:TDSA) shed 1.85% or 0.0100 points to 0.5300.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 34 to 33 and 4 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was up 0.18% or 0.10 to $53.48 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $48.83 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.38% or 4.10 to trade at $1089.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.74% to 1.0902, while EUR/GBP fell 0.60% to 0.7000.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.62% at 97.83.
