Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 2.34% or 1.155 points to trade at 50.500 at the close. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) added 0.88% or 0.36 points to end at 41.95 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 0.87% or 0.12 points to 14.54 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which lost 2.97% or 0.86 points to trade at 28.07 in late trade. KBC (BR:KBC) declined 2.92% or 1.270 points to end at 42.230 and ING Groep NV (AS:ING) shed 1.65% or 0.151 points to 9.009.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 84 to 57 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 1.11% or 14.85 to $1353.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.10% or 0.05 to hit $48.94 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.10% or 0.05 to trade at $50.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.06% to 1.1145, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8382.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 95.61.
