The Fairtree Equity Prescient Fund will be a general equity fund. The objective of the fund is to offer medium to long term capital growth. In order to achieve this objective the fund will invest in selected shares across all industry groups as well as across the range of large, mid and smaller cap shares. The fund will seek to capture value by focussing on equity selection opportunities. The portfolio will predominately invest in South African markets, but is however permitted to include investments in offshore jurisdictions subject to the investment conditions determined by the Registrar from time to time. The portfolio is permitted to invest in listed and unlisted financial instruments in line with the conditions as determined by legislation from time to time.

Biography | Stephen joined Fairtree in 2011 as a portfolio manager. After completing his MBA at the University of Stellenbosch Business School in 1996, he started his fund manager experience as an industrial analyst at Southern Asset Management. He joined RMB Asset Management in 2000 as a diversified industrial analyst. He was awarded his CFA charter during 2001. He joined the RMB resources team in 2001 and was ultimately promoted to head of resources research. Stephen has 12 years of experience as an analyst, covering a range of large and mid-capitalisation shares. He enjoyed the benefit of analysing multiple sectors and industries; valuing companies using different techniques; analysing cyclical and defensive businesses and witnessing multiple changes in the macroeconomic environment. He started his portfolio management career in 2002 while managing the RMB Value Fund. He took portfolio management responsibility for a RMB Resources Fund in 2007 and moved out of research and onto full time portfolio management of Institutional Balanced Funds and Equity funds in 2010. Stephen has benefitted from managing funds during periods of extreme volatility and during periods of stability. |
