The Producer Price Index (PPI) measures the average change in prices received by domestic producers for their output. It one of a number of leading indicators of consumer price inflation, which accounts for the majority of overall inflation. A reading that is stronger than forecast is generally supportive (bullish) for the GBP, while a weaker than forecast reading is generally negative (bearish) for the GBP.
