The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) Industrial Trends Orders measures the economic expectations exhibited by executives of manufacturing companies in the U.K. It is a leading indicator of business conditions. A level above zero suggests order volume is expected to increase, while a level below zero indicates expectations are for lower volumes. The survey comprises about 550 U.K. manufacturers.

A reading that is stronger than forecast is generally supportive (bullish) for the GBP, while a weaker than forecast reading is generally negative (bearish) for the GBP.
