Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Media, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 rose 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE), which rose 5.82% or 0.16 points to trade at 2.91 at the close. LPP SA (WA:LPPP) added 4.01% or 213.55 points to end at 5543.55 and mBank (WA:MBK) was up 1.97% or 6.85 points to 354.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Energa SA (WA:ENGP), which lost 10.68% or 1.42 points to trade at 11.88 in late trade. Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW) declined 3.06% or 9.25 points to end at 292.95 and KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGHM) shed 2.17% or 1.59 points to 71.52.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 268 to 215 and 185 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 3.96% or 1.44 to $37.78 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 2.84% or 1.10 to hit $39.84 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.13% or 1.60 to trade at $1229.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.08% to 4.2928, while USD/PLN rose 0.32% to 3.8744.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 96.90.
