Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Mining, Travel & Leisure and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 3.42% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 3.20% or 22.80 points to trade at 735.00 at the close. Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL) added 2.69% or 52.5 points to end at 2001.0 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) was down 0.57% or 13.0 points to 2262.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 16.67% or 251.50 points to trade at 1257.00 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 9.80% or 83.40 points to end at 767.60 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) shed 9.15% or 57.00 points to 566.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2033 to 257 and 120 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.80% or 29.70 to $1678.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 5.40% or 2.88 to hit $50.50 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 5.64% or 3.27 to trade at $54.67 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.26% to 1.2935, while EUR/GBP rose 0.51% to 0.8405.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 99.043.
