Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Industrial Metals & Mining and Forestry & Paper sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 2.45% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which rose 8.39% or 34.70 points to trade at 448.20 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 0.86% or 5.20 points to end at 611.00 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) was up 0.74% or 48.00 points to 6546.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS), which lost 6.54% or 14.20 points to trade at 202.90 in late trade. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 6.25% or 56.40 points to end at 846.00 and Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) shed 6.13% or 104.50 points to 1600.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1659 to 489 and 171 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.81% or 25.95 to $1458.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 3.06% or 1.65 to hit $55.60 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.66% or 1.61 to trade at $62.11 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.12% to 1.2145, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.9151.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 97.843.
