Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Tobacco and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 1.40% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND), which rose 3.19% or 17.80 points to trade at 576.60 at the close. 3I Group PLC (LON:III) added 2.44% or 21.20 points to end at 889.60 and British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) was up 2.41% or 8.60 points to 366.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which lost 9.00% or 16.30 points to trade at 164.75 in late trade. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) declined 8.60% or 9.27 points to end at 98.58 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 6.00% or 18.40 points to 288.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1157 to 956 and 168 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.23% or 23.80 to $1966.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.28% or 0.11 to hit $40.03 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.18% or 0.08 to trade at $43.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.11% to 1.3107, while EUR/GBP fell 0.50% to 0.9000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 93.310.
