Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Automobiles & Parts and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were ConvaTec Group PLC (LON:CTEC), which rose 1.73% or 4.00 points to trade at 235.40 at the close. Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) added 1.46% or 4.20 points to end at 291.90 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) was up 1.32% or 1.80 points to 137.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 3.24% or 9.40 points to trade at 281.00 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) declined 2.59% or 4.35 points to end at 163.85 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) shed 2.43% or 360.00 points to 14,440.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1094 to 705 and 696 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.79% or 18.35 to $2,312.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.20% or 0.16 to hit $80.67 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.04% or 0.03 to trade at $84.19 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.45% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.40% at 105.68.
