Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Industrial Metals & Mining and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK), which rose 2.24% or 33.00 points to trade at 1505.00 at the close. Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) added 1.77% or 130.00 points to end at 7490.00 and Provident Financial (LON:PFG) was up 1.65% or 14.50 points to 891.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR), which lost 5.49% or 249.50 points to trade at 4299.00 in late trade. Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP) declined 5.37% or 12.60 points to end at 221.90 and WPP PLC (LON:WPP) shed 2.98% or 42.00 points to 1366.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1298 to 638 and 447 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.56% or 7.18 to $1290.18 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.36% or 0.71 to hit $51.33 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.67% or 0.97 to trade at $57.18 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.26% to 1.3171, while EUR/GBP rose 0.69% to 0.8988.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 93.05.
