Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Mining and Electrical sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Beazley PLC (LON:BEZG), which rose 3.56% or 23.50 points to trade at 684.50 at the close. B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) added 2.93% or 13.00 points to end at 456.50 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 1.97% or 3.40 points to 176.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Smurfit Kappa Group PLC (LON:SWR), which lost 2.24% or 82.00 points to trade at 3,574.00 in late trade. Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) declined 1.99% or 7.60 points to end at 374.00 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) shed 1.97% or 2.80 points to 139.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 938 to 867 and 696 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.47% or 35.30 to $2,362.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.90% or 0.75 to hit $82.41 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.81% or 0.70 to trade at $85.84 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 104.63.
