Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Mining and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq), which rose 8.19% or 0.096 points to trade at 1.268 at the close. Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) added 6.26% or 0.94 points to end at 16.05 and NK Rosneft PAO DRC (LON:ROSNq) was up 5.16% or 0.38 points to 7.79 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Segro Plc (LON:SGRO), which lost 2.82% or 40.00 points to trade at 1378.50 in late trade. United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) declined 2.50% or 28.00 points to end at 1090.00 and British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) shed 1.44% or 7.40 points to 507.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1305 to 721 and 417 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.96% or 34.55 to $1799.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.30% or 1.63 to hit $72.50 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.80% or 1.33 to trade at $75.21 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.40% to 1.3317, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8498.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.47% at 96.032.
