Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Industrial Metals & Mining and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Standard Life Aberdeen PLC (LON:SLA), which rose 4.79% or 14.70 points to trade at 321.30 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 3.92% or 12.30 points to end at 326.30 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 3.47% or 58.20 points to 1736.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK), which lost 9.78% or 574.00 points to trade at 5296.00 in late trade. Capita PLC (LON:CPI) declined 4.15% or 5.35 points to end at 123.50 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) shed 4.11% or 87.00 points to 2031.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1155 to 835 and 329 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.20% or 2.40 to $1220.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.48% or 0.33 to hit $69.34 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.95% or 0.70 to trade at $74.45 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.02% to 1.2946, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.8954.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 94.98.
