Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil & Gas Producers and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Next PLC (LON:NXT), which rose 7.69% or 394.00 points to trade at 5518.00 at the close. Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) added 4.60% or 240.00 points to end at 5460.00 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 3.48% or 11.50 points to 341.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which lost 3.96% or 27.20 points to trade at 659.40 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 3.44% or 47.50 points to end at 1333.50 and Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP) shed 2.36% or 3.70 points to 153.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1108 to 955 and 312 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.14% or 1.70 to $1206.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $72.08 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.83% or 0.67 to trade at $81.20 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.36% to 1.3166, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8941.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 93.70.
