Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 4.92% or 101.0 points to trade at 2153.5 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 4.07% or 34.40 points to end at 880.00 and Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) was up 3.60% or 29.80 points to 856.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 4.36% or 42.20 points to trade at 925.60 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 3.59% or 45.00 points to end at 1209.50 and Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) shed 2.12% or 39.80 points to 1839.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1355 to 805 and 205 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.09% or 1.45 to $1571.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.64% or 1.32 to hit $51.26 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 3.48% or 1.88 to trade at $55.89 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.10% to 1.2964, while EUR/GBP fell 0.42% to 0.8390.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 98.847.
