Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, General Retailers and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 7.60% or 84.00 points to trade at 1,189.00 at the close. Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) added 3.10% or 124.00 points to end at 4,131.00 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) was up 2.88% or 37.60 points to 1,342.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 2.74% or 6.60 points to trade at 234.20 in late trade. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) declined 2.35% or 2.02 points to end at 83.82 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) shed 2.34% or 39.00 points to 1,627.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1151 to 744 and 435 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.71% or 13.80 to $1,929.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.51% or 1.55 to hit $104.53 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.98% or 1.05 to trade at $107.69 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 1.32, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.57% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 98.25.
