Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.04% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which rose 2.56% or 49.00 points to trade at 1964.00 at the close. BHP Billiton PLC (LON:BLT) added 2.56% or 36.50 points to end at 1464.00 and Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) was up 2.53% or 54.00 points to 2185.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RSA Insurance Group PLC (LON:RSA), which lost 1.62% or 10.00 points to trade at 607.50 in late trade. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) declined 1.44% or 2.30 points to end at 157.50 and Standard Life Aberdeen PLC (LON:SLA) shed 1.42% or 6.20 points to 429.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1002 to 956 and 449 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.05% or 13.28 to $1282.48 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.64% or 1.47 to hit $57.11 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.84% or 1.76 to trade at $63.83 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.61% to 1.3157, while EUR/GBP fell 0.63% to 0.8821.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 94.69.
