Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 3.30% or 33.00 points to trade at 1034.00 at the close. InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG) added 2.49% or 79.00 points to end at 3250.00 and Micro Focus International (LON:MCRO) was up 2.38% or 48.00 points to 2063.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 6.86% or 95.00 points to trade at 1289.00 in late trade. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 5.94% or 41.50 points to end at 657.50 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) shed 4.85% or 295.00 points to 5790.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1214 to 1056 and 427 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.73% or 8.90 to $1208.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.66% or 0.30 to hit $45.12 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.56% or 0.26 to trade at $46.23 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.72% to 1.2331, while EUR/GBP rose 0.39% to 0.8590.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.33% at 101.33.
