Investing.com – Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) and Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) were weaker on news former President Donald Trump will sue them as well as their chiefs for blocking him out of their social media platforms.
Trump is banned from Twitter for life and from Facebook for two years.
The Republican, who has complained about censorship by social media giants, announced class action lawsuits today against the companies and also against Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Alphabet's (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Sundar Pichai.
Twitter was down over 1% and Facebook 0.3%. Alphabet was higher by 0.3%.
Trump said that he is the lead class representative in a lawsuit being filed with the Southern (NYSE:SO) District of Florida, according to Axios.
The filing, Trump said, seeks immediate injunctive relief to allow the prompt restoration his social media accounts. He also said he is asking the court to impose "punitive damages" on the three social media giants.
