Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Other Electronic and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.93%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tripod Technology Corp (TW:3044), which rose 9.61% or 9.60 points to trade at 109.50 at the close. Crowell Development Corp (TW:2528) added 7.40% or 1.55 points to end at 22.50 and Vivotek Inc (TW:3454) was up 5.96% or 5.30 points to 94.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kaori Heat Treatment Co Ltd (TW:8996), which lost 10.00% or 4.20 points to trade at 37.80 in late trade. Waffer Technology Corp (TW:6235) declined 9.36% or 1.75 points to end at 16.95 and Aurotek Corp (TW:6215) shed 5.95% or 1.00 points to 15.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 579 to 214 and 86 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.39% or 0.19 to $48.98 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.46% or 0.24 to hit $51.90 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.70% or 8.80 to trade at $1271.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.06% to 30.214, while TWD/CNY fell 0.45% to 0.2201.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 93.49.
