Investing.com – Turkey equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Financials and Leasing & Factoring sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 rose 2.40% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Akbank TAS (IS:AKBNK), which rose 8.62% or 0.52 points to trade at 6.55 at the close. Turkiye Is Bankasi AS Class C (IS:ISCTR) added 8.09% or 0.360 points to end at 4.810 and Haci Omer Sabanci Holding AS (IS:SAHOL) was up 6.97% or 0.54 points to 8.29 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Celebi Hava Servisi AS (IS:CLEBI), which lost 4.00% or 2.50 points to trade at 59.95 in late trade. ODAS Elektrik Uretim Sanayi Ticaret AS (IS:ODAS) declined 2.55% or 0.050 points to end at 1.910 and Mavi Giyim Sanayi Ve Ticaret AS (IS:MAVI) shed 2.34% or 0.72 points to 30.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 232 to 119 and 55 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.40% or 5.15 to $1293.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.55% or 0.81 to hit $51.30 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.97% or 0.59 to trade at $60.05 a barrel.
USD/TRY was down 1.58% to 5.3559, while EUR/TRY fell 1.70% to 6.1041.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 95.688.
