Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Computers & Peripherals and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 2.96% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Meiloon Ind (TW:2477), which rose 9.62% or 1.15 points to trade at 13.10 at the close. Avermedia Tech (TW:2417) added 9.61% or 1.10 points to end at 12.55 and Coadna (TW:4984) was up 5.15% or 1.85 points to 37.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Min Aik (TW:3060), which lost 10.00% or 8.50 points to trade at 76.50 in late trade. Systex (TW:6214) declined 10.00% or 6.80 points to end at 61.20 and Taiwan Paiho (TW:9938) shed 10.00% or 7.70 points to 69.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 795 to 49 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.12% or 0.58 to $51.74 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.93% or 0.53 to hit $56.32 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.48% or 5.50 to trade at $1147.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.31% to 31.063, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.2010.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.17% at 96.72.
