Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Glass and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 1.04% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Taiwan Sakura (TW:9911), which rose 9.95% or 2.00 points to trade at 22.10 at the close. Walsin Tech (TW:2492) added 6.04% or 1.55 points to end at 27.20 and Global Brands (TW:6191) was up 5.75% or 0.40 points to 7.36 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcadyan Tech (TW:3596), which lost 6.79% or 3.05 points to trade at 41.90 in late trade. Uniform (TW:2482) declined 6.74% or 0.90 points to end at 12.45 and Chung Hung Ste (TW:2014) shed 5.67% or 0.40 points to 6.65.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 563 to 185 and 104 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.42% or 0.19 to $45.14 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.45% or 0.21 to hit $46.72 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.52% or 6.50 to trade at $1256.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.27% to 32.255, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.2010.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.70% at 93.72.
