Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Cement and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 2.00% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Fortune Information Systems Corp (TW:2468), which rose 9.62% or 1.15 points to trade at 13.10 at the close. Altek Corp (TW:3059) added 5.38% or 1.20 points to end at 23.50 and I-Hwa Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1456) was up 5.08% or 0.37 points to 7.66 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharmally International Holding Co Ltd (TW:6452), which lost 9.93% or 48.00 points to trade at 435.50 in late trade. Shunsin Technology Holdings Ltd (TW:6451) declined 9.92% or 6.40 points to end at 58.10 and Chroma ATE Inc (TW:2360) shed 8.75% or 11.50 points to 120.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 730 to 114 and 55 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.43% or 0.30 to $69.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.59% or 0.47 to hit $79.36 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.56% or 6.80 to trade at $1231.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.14% to 30.974, while TWD/CNY fell 0.13% to 0.2237.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 95.78.
