Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were HTC Corp (TW:2498), which rose 9.96% or 6.90 points to trade at 76.20 at the close. Jih Lin Technology Co Ltd (TW:5285) added 9.92% or 7.00 points to end at 77.60 and Anji Technology Co Ltd (TW:6477) was up 9.90% or 1.95 points to 21.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chien Kuo Construction Co Ltd (TW:5515), which lost 8.86% or 1.05 points to trade at 10.80 in late trade. TPK Holding Co Ltd (TW:3673) declined 8.11% or 9.00 points to end at 102.00 and Merry Electronics Co Ltd (TW:2439) shed 6.67% or 14.50 points to 203.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 655 to 138 and 79 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.30% or 0.15 to $50.70 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.18% or 0.10 to hit $56.53 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.45% or 5.87 to trade at $1300.67 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.03% to 30.211, while TWD/CNY rose 0.23% to 0.2191.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 91.80.
