Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Transport and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Kinko Optical Co Ltd (TW:6209), which rose 10.00% or 4.30 points to trade at 47.30 at the close. Darwin Precisions Corp (TW:6120) added 10.00% or 2.45 points to end at 26.95 and Taiwan Pelican Express Co Ltd (TW:2642) was up 9.98% or 2.90 points to 31.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Young Optics Inc (TW:3504), which lost 9.93% or 7.20 points to trade at 65.30 in late trade. Elite Material Co Ltd (TW:2383) declined 7.72% or 11.50 points to end at 137.50 and Taiwan Pulp & Paper Corp (TW:1902) shed 7.49% or 1.70 points to 21.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 566 to 226 and 78 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.02% or 0.01 to $47.28 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.80% or 0.42 to hit $52.33 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.86% or 11.40 to trade at $1341.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.21% to 30.055, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2170.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 92.59.
