Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Glass, Rubber and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.64%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Dfi (TW:2397), which rose 9.96% or 5.30 points to trade at 58.50 at the close. Kian Shen (TW:1525) added 9.92% or 12.50 points to end at 138.50 and Via Tech (TW:2388) was up 9.86% or 1.40 points to 15.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Candmark (TW:5259), which lost 9.85% or 0.20 points to trade at 1.83 in late trade. Chien Shing Ss (TW:2025) declined 9.17% or 0.20 points to end at 1.98 and Gintech (TW:3514) shed 4.64% or 1.15 points to 23.65.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 383 to 370 and 99 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.36% or 0.16 to $44.34 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.41% or 0.19 to hit $45.99 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.36% or 4.50 to trade at $1258.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.19% to 32.303, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.2001.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 94.51.
