Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Electricity, Information Services and Cement sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Hong Ho Precis (TW:1446), which rose 9.75% or 1.55 points to trade at 17.45 at the close. Walton (TW:8110) added 9.68% or 1.05 points to end at 11.90 and Gold Circuit E (TW:2368) was up 9.58% or 0.94 points to 10.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348), which lost 9.76% or 1.85 points to trade at 17.10 in late trade. Global PMX Co Ltd (TW:4551) declined 8.27% or 10.50 points to end at 116.50 and Transasia (TW:6702) shed 7.14% or 0.40 points to 5.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 476 to 292 and 107 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.19% or 0.55 to $46.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 1.17% or 0.55 to hit $47.41 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.36% or 4.35 to trade at $1213.05 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.06% to 32.009, while TWD/CNY rose 0.23% to 0.2153.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 101.28.
