Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Transport and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Genius Electronic Optical Co Ltd (TW:3406), which rose 10.00% or 51.00 points to trade at 561.00 at the close. Genesis Photonics Inc (TW:3383) added 10.00% or 0.26 points to end at 2.86 and CX Technology Corp (TW:2415) was up 10.00% or 2.95 points to 32.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429), which lost 6.59% or 0.90 points to trade at 12.75 in late trade. Y.C.C. Parts MFG Co Ltd (TW:1339) declined 6.08% or 2.85 points to end at 44.05 and King Slide Works Co Ltd (TW:2059) shed 5.21% or 21.50 points to 391.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 563 to 202 and 112 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.06% or 0.03 to $49.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.31% or 0.17 to hit $54.66 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.60% or 8.08 to trade at $1358.38 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.28% to 29.968, while TWD/CNY fell 0.18% to 0.2164.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 91.19.
