Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Financials and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Everfocus Elec (TW:5484), which rose 8.11% or 0.540 points to trade at 7.200 at the close. Orise Tech (TW:3545) added 7.79% or 2.50 points to end at 34.60 and Global Brands (TW:6191) was up 6.40% or 0.65 points to 10.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Swancor Holding Co Ltd (TW:3708), which lost 9.99% or 8.50 points to trade at 76.60 in late trade. Cyberpower (TW:3617) declined 9.87% or 11.00 points to end at 100.50 and Arima Communic (TW:8101) shed 9.68% or 0.54 points to 5.04.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 419 to 310 and 119 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.33% or 0.17 to $50.96 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.46% or 0.24 to hit $52.65 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.11% or 1.35 to trade at $1257.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.02% to 31.617, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2116.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 97.57.
