Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Hotels, Cement and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were HTC Corp (TW:2498), which rose 10.00% or 3.85 points to trade at 42.35 at the close. HannsTouch Solution Inc (TW:3049) added 10.00% or 0.66 points to end at 7.26 and Airtac International Group (TW:1590) was up 9.96% or 26.00 points to 287.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Asmedia Technology Inc (TW:5269), which lost 9.94% or 47.00 points to trade at 426.00 in late trade. Career Technology MFG Co Ltd (TW:6153) declined 6.81% or 2.30 points to end at 31.45 and Hitron Technologies Inc (TW:2419) shed 6.67% or 1.35 points to 18.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 420 to 390 and 93 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 1.48% or 0.89 to $61.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 2.11% or 1.48 to hit $71.66 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.15% or 1.80 to trade at $1206.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.28% to 30.875, while TWD/CNY fell 0.18% to 0.2254.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 97.19.
