Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Services, Information Technology and Power & Energy sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.21% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML), which rose 18.18% or 4.00 points to trade at 26.00 at the close. Bansei Royal Resorts Hikkaduwa Limited (CM:BANS) added 11.63% or 1.00 points to end at 9.60 and Kelsey Developments PLC (CM:KDL) was up 10.20% or 3.60 points to 38.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Selinsing PLC (CM:SELI), which lost 24.43% or 329.80 points to trade at 1020.00 in late trade. Kahawatte Plantations PLC (CM:KAHA) declined 21.49% or 7.50 points to end at 27.40 and Standard Capital PLC (CM:SING) shed 12.35% or 10.00 points to 71.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 87 to 75 and 58 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.48% or 0.23 to $48.26 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.45% or 0.22 to hit $49.34 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.05% or 0.55 to trade at $1211.75 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.36% to 184.370, while USD/LKR rose 0.03% to 148.595.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 101.11.
