Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Motors, Healthcare and Power & Energy sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.12% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Kahawatte Plantations PLC (CM:KAHA), which rose 15.63% or 5.00 points to trade at 37.00 at the close. Paragon Ceylon PLC (CM:PARA) added 14.42% or 7.50 points to end at 59.50 and Colombo Investment Trust PLC (CM:CIT) was up 14.37% or 11.80 points to 93.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC (CM:ASHO), which lost 12.33% or 148.00 points to trade at 1052.00 in late trade. Selinsing PLC (CM:SELI) declined 11.10% or 149.80 points to end at 1200.00 and Madulsima Plantations PLC (CM:MADU) shed 9.86% or 0.70 points to 6.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 66 to 66 and 54 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.47% or 0.25 to $53.55 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.42% or 0.23 to hit $55.58 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.18% or 2.05 to trade at $1135.65 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.26% to 184.085, while USD/LKR fell 0.10% to 149.185.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 103.20.
