Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Trading and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Hayleys Fibre PLC (CM:HEXP), which rose 45.13% or 21.30 points to trade at 68.50 at the close. Hunas Falls Hotels PLC (CM:HUNA) added 22.41% or 11.90 points to end at 65.00 and Huejay International Investments PLC (CM:HUEJ) was up 19.52% or 9.80 points to 60.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PC House PLC (CM:PCHO), which lost 50.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.200 in late trade. Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO) declined 15.45% or 469.70 points to end at 2570.00 and Office Equipment PLC (CM:OFEQ) shed 13.99% or 349.60 points to 2149.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 134 to 98 and 13 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.15% or 0.07 to $47.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.11% or 0.06 to hit $51.38 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.37% or 4.30 to trade at $1144.40 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.19% to 215.480, while USD/LKR rose 0.15% to 140.675.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.38% at 95.28.
