Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Information Technology and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML), which rose 12.89% or 2.90 points to trade at 25.40 at the close. Adam Investments Ltd (CM:ADAM) added 12.50% or 0.100 points to end at 0.900 and Eden Hotel Lanka PLC (CM:EDEN) was up 12.00% or 1.50 points to 14.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL), which lost 23.42% or 538.20 points to trade at 1760.00 in late trade. Ceylon Tea Services PLC (CM:CTEA) declined 16.30% or 110.00 points to end at 565.00 and Arpico Finance Company PLC (CM:ARPI) shed 12.31% or 24.00 points to 171.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 86 to 64 and 58 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.90% or 0.47 to $51.70 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.64% or 0.35 to hit $54.70 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.16% or 1.95 to trade at $1238.05 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.08% to 188.290, while USD/LKR rose 0.04% to 150.760.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 100.58.
