Investing.com – Singapore equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Telecoms and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Singapore, the Singapore Straits Time lost 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Singapore Straits Time were Noble Group Limited (SIN:NOBG), which rose 3.40% or 0.025 points to trade at 0.760 at the close. SIA Engineering Co Ltd (SIN:SIAE) added 1.31% or 0.05 points to end at 3.88 and Capitaland Limited (SIN:CATL) was up 1.16% or 0.04 points to 3.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Jardine Cycle & Carriage Ltd (SIN:JCYC), which lost 2.58% or 0.90 points to trade at 34.04 in late trade. Jardine Strategic Hldgs Ltd (SIN:JSH) declined 2.51% or 0.79 points to end at 30.71 and Olam International Limited (SIN:OLAM) shed 2.36% or 0.045 points to 1.865.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 46 to 39 and 6 ended unchanged on the Singapore Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.43% or 0.26 to $59.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.18% or 0.12 to hit $63.09 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.15% or 1.70 to trade at $1173.50 a troy ounce.
USD/SGD was up 0.23% to 1.3470, while EUR/SGD rose 0.17% to 1.5080.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 95.43.
