Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Banking, Media and Information Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 lost 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH), which rose 2.99% or 2.00 points to trade at 68.94 at the close. Eurocash SA (WA:EUR) added 2.51% or 1.36 points to end at 55.46 and Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW) was up 2.21% or 0.28 points to 12.94 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank Handlowy w Warszawie SA (WA:BHW), which lost 2.38% or 2.00 points to trade at 82.00 in late trade. Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW) declined 1.21% or 3.60 points to end at 293.75 and PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WA:PGE) shed 0.90% or 0.12 points to 13.28.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 264 to 250 and 174 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 1.91% or 0.76 to $40.48 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 2.17% or 0.91 to hit $42.85 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 1.29% or 16.00 to trade at $1259.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.41% to 4.2793, while USD/PLN fell 0.54% to 3.7495.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 93.96.
