Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Banking and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 added 2.32% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP), which rose 4.07% or 2.30 points to trade at 58.87 at the close. Cyfrowy Polsat SA (WA:CPS) added 3.46% or 0.81 points to end at 24.25 and Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR) was up 3.42% or 2.46 points to 74.43 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Asseco Poland SA (WA:ACPP), which lost 1.21% or 0.65 points to trade at 53.10 in late trade. PKP Cargo (WA:PKPP) declined 0.82% or 0.45 points to end at 54.25 and Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) shed 0.47% or 0.33 points to 69.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 325 to 234 and 185 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.39% or 0.19 to $48.67 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.27% or 0.14 to hit $51.67 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 2.29% or 27.55 to trade at $1228.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.35% to 4.2973, while USD/PLN fell 0.35% to 4.0042.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 100.23.
