Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Energy and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 1.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were OrangePL (WA:OPL), which rose 7.43% or 0.59 points to trade at 8.53 at the close. PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WA:PGE) added 4.28% or 0.75 points to end at 18.29 and Synthos SA (WA:SNS) was up 4.20% or 0.19 points to 4.71 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP), which lost 1.45% or 0.81 points to trade at 55.08 in late trade. Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA (WA:PGN) declined 0.91% or 0.06 points to end at 6.51 and Globe Trade Centre SA (WA:GTCP) shed 0.67% or 0.04 points to 5.90.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 354 to 212 and 100 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.04% or 0.02 to $51.39 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.45% or 0.26 to hit $57.38 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.34% or 3.90 to trade at $1143.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.43% to 4.1123, while USD/PLN rose 0.09% to 3.7753.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.39% at 97.67.
